Also known as the ‘Bird’s Nest’, this stadium holds a capacity of 91,000 people. Designed exclusively for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games by the famous architect Herzog De Meuron, the stadium highlights a modern expressionist style inspired by nature’s own patterns. A total of 40,000 tons of steel and 110,000 tons of concrete were required to build the structure. The highly technical structure allows the building to withstand an earthquake of magnitude 8.00 – great for China!
